Privacy

Last updated 30 October 2026

The Africa Banking Brief collects as little personal data as it can. This notice sets out what it collects and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

The editor of The Africa Banking Brief is responsible for personal data collected through the site, and can be reached at contact@africanbankingbrief.com.

Reading the site

The site sets no cookies and carries no advertising. It serves its own fonts, so your browser does not contact a font service.

To count its readers, the site uses Vercel Web Analytics. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your approximate location, and your browser and type of device. It tells visits apart by a code worked out from each request, which is discarded after 24 hours, so a reader cannot be followed from one day to the next or across other sites. We see the results only as totals.

Vercel, which hosts the site, also records technical information such as IP addresses in its server logs, to run and secure the service.

Writing to us

If you email us, we receive your name, email address and message. Messages reach us through Cloudflare’s email forwarding. We use them only to reply and to deal with corrections and requests, and delete them when they are no longer needed for that.

Legal basis and transfers

We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interests in running the site securely, understanding how it is read, and answering messages. Vercel and Cloudflare are based in the United States, so data may be processed there, under the safeguards those companies provide.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use, by writing to contact@africanbankingbrief.com. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If the site starts collecting more personal data, this notice will be updated before it does.
